The modified netball program (i.e. game rules) for these age groups is designed to develop children’s skill levels, confidence and sportsmanship. Additional match/game day information

Duration

Each game has a duration of approximately 45 minutes (4 x 10-minute quarters).

Arrival time and match absence

Players must be at the courts and ready to start at least 15 minutes prior to their match start time. This allows players to warm up and coaches and team managers to organise teams.

If a player is unable to attend a game, please let the coach or team manager know as soon as possible. Contact details will be provided to players at the start of the season.

Fixtures

Fixtures can be found using the Netball Connect app.

Weather

In the event of extreme weather conditions (heat/wet), MPNA/BDNC may decide to cancel matches/training for safety reasons.

If this is the case, parents will be contacted as soon as possible via the individual team's Whatsapp group and Facebook. Occasionally, there may not be enough time to contact everyone, or contact may not be possible. If you're unsure about the weather and have not received a cancellation message, please assume the match/training is going ahead and head to the courts.

Scorers (parent/guardian assistance)

  • Each team must supply one scorer for each game. Both scorers must stand together for the entire match and must use the Association's official scoresheet via the provided tablets.

  • Scorers must check the score (including addition) prior to signing the scoresheet.

  • Once the official scoresheet has been signed by both umpires, the score is final.

  • Team managers or coaches will share the responsibility for scoring across the playing group over the season.

Team selections

All players must first register with BDNC for the relevant season. Team allocations will be communicated via phone or email before the season begins.

There are no formal team selection requirements for 9/U, 10/U, 11/U players. â€‹All other players must complete online registration before attending one of the grading days held prior to the season (dates and venue will be advertised for each age group). Team selections are made in line with Netball Victoria’s selection guidelines.

Once the advertised registration period has closed, a player will only be able to register with the club if there is a vacancy in the appropriate age group. If no spot is available, the player will be placed on a waiting list. Current club members will be given precedence over new members for team positions, with new members being accepted where positions become available.

While BDNC aims to accommodate all interested players, team numbers may be capped to ensure a positive experience for all. Teams will generally consist of no more than 10 players.

In fairness to all members, BDNC will not allow members with outstanding fees to register for a new season until the balance to the club is settled in full.
